NJ Football Rising Sophomore RB/LB/SS Myquan Rush-Esdaile Set to Take Barnegat to Next Level
Barnegat, NJ: The Barnegat football program has been on the cusp of breaking out for so long.
For the last decade, the Bengals have been at .500 or better. They've even made a run to a sectional final in the past 10 years.
But they always seem to come up just short at the end of the season when it comes to silverware.
Rising sophomore Myquan Rush-Esdaile wants to be the player that changes that.
The running back, linebacker, and strong safety will make a significant impact come Fall as Barnegat searches for an elusive sectional crown. Rush-Esdaile was 5'10", 180 pounds during the Fall 2021 campaign but has been working hard in the weight room to get stronger and add some bulk to his frame. That frame is still growing as the 16-year-old fills out over the next few years.
Off the field, Rush-Esdaile is a star as well, posting good grades in the classroom. Combining all these factors, the Barnegat rising sophomore is set for a breakout season. Rush-Esdaile has already got on the NJ.com radar for 2022, which means you can expect big things this fall.
Here is a scouting report on Rush-Esdaile from a Shore Conference coach who has seen the player multiple times:
"This kid is going to have a big season in 2022. Myquan is very quick and has some pop for his size. He is going to add another 20 pounds of muscle onto his frame in the next year or two, which would immediately make him a scary proposition for opposing tacklers on defense when he is running the ball. I think he could get 1,000 yards if he is used as the primary running back.
"On defense, he is very fast to the ball and has good instincts. He is one of those guys that will end his career with a bunch of picks because he has a good read of the game. I think this Barnegat team could be an interesting watch in the fall."
